Most visitors to Sihanoukville travel from Phnom Penh by bus. There is also an increasing number of visitors coming to Sihanoukville by ferry or road from Koh Kong (Had Lek / Koh Kong border crossing) and by the new and improved road from Kampot. At present, there are no regularly scheduled flights to Sihanoukville. Speaking to tour companies or even your accommodation provider in Cambodia or Thailand is the best way of getting up-to-date information - but be sure to shop around!

Travel to and from Sihanoukville
As mentioned above, the two main ways of getting to Sihanoukville are by bus or by ferry. Your options for these are:
Bus
Relatively comfortable air-con buses depart from Phnom Penh several times per day from 7.00pm until 1:30. It's a 4-hour drive on fairly good roads. A one way ticket costs between 12,000R - 16,000R. Mekong Express offer deluxe services at US$ 6.
Taxi
Shared and private taxis can be found at the downtown bus station. In Phnom Penh, taxis to Sihanoukville can be found on the southwest corner of Central Market. Usually taxis do the 230km strech for about US$ 45 - 60, but generally prices will increase (sometimes even double) before, during and after major public holidays such as Khmer New Year, Pchum Ben and the Water Festival.
Boat/Ferry
Small ferries run daily in both directions between Sihanoukville and Koh Kong. The trip takes 3 1/2 - 4 hours and cost between US$12-$15.
